What have you done in the off season after your knee surgery to be ready for Week 1?
To tell you the truth it's been a long road back from knee surgery. As you may know I had know surgery in Feb. to repair some damage to my knee. For more about the surgery click here. It has not been an easy time period. After the surgery I was on crutches for 10 weeks. 10 Weeks!!! For an active person like me that may have been the toughest part, at least so I thought.
When I was able to get off the crutches, I have been doing exercises 5 to 6 days a week to get the motion and strength back in my knee. A typical day for me starts at 6:30 AM with a 20 min run in the pool. Then I get out and bike and get stretched before I do over 2 hours of double and single leg exercises put together by my doctor and our team training staff to get the motion back in my knee and get the strength back in my leg that I lost being on crutches so long and not working that leg. Those exercises end with a 20 min jog. After that I go workout in the weight room for about an hour and a half. I finish with a half hour ice and stim (stimulation) treatment.
Truthfully, the process has been steady but slow and sometimes stressful, because some days are definitely better than others. But overall I'm positive and the tests and MRI's that I have gotten show that the surgery was a success and the doctors say I'm still on schedule.
